Community colleges provide a range of opportunities for students. They can provide certificate programs or associate degrees in a particular field of study, or provide a point of entry into four-year college as a transfer student. In California, there are 114 different campuses to choose from with approximately 2.1 million students. Students range from high school students getting a head-start by earning college credit, to recent high school graduates and adult students pursuing technical/vocational two-year degrees, or preparing themselves for transfer to a four-year college.
