CTE - Career Technical Education
CTE courses give students more options after they graduate, even allowing them to potentially enter into careers with living wages that would support themselves or a family.
In San Marcos, students are currently being trained for a wide-variety of future careers from engineering, computer science, public safety, graphic design, and more. Students that take CTE courses are better prepared for the world of work as well as college, in fact, the high school graduation rate for CTE Career Pathway students is 90% - 15 percentage points higher than the national average.
The mission of the Career Technical Education Department: To prepare a diverse population for further education, employment and occupational changes.
As a result of this mission, students at the completion of their CTE experience will acquire occupational knowledge and skills, demonstrate appropriate workplace skills and effective behaviors and attain job acquisition skills with an awareness of career options and life long learning opportunities.
The CTE Department offers courses and opportunities for students where they will develop in a supportive nurturing environment and obtain real world experience.
