Complete Your SMUSD Residency Verification & Help Us Support Student Wellness

Posted Date: 06/08/26 (06:00 PM)

Annual Residency Verification Now Open for Current SMUSD Families

Residency verification, or re-enrollment for current students, started on June 1, 2026.
All current SMUSD families must complete the 2026-2027 residency verification process in order for continuing students to be properly registered for the next school year.

If your student is transitioning to a middle or high school next year, the residency verification process will automatically register your child at the designated middle or high school based on your home address.

Residency verification is an annual process completed digitally via ParentVUE. Only one ParentVUE account is required to complete this process for all students in your home. Therefore, families with multiple children will submit one residency verification for all students living in the same household. Please note this process is for CURRENT STUDENTS ONLY.

Please complete the residency verification prior to August 14, 2026.

Supporting Student Wellness Together: Why We Ask for Student Health Insurance Information

As part of the current registration and residency verification process, San Marcos Unified families will be asked to provide their student's health insurance information. Providing this information is optional.

This information helps SMUSD participate in the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative, also known as CYBHI. This statewide program allows school districts to seek reimbursement for eligible mental health and wellness services that are already being provided to students at school.

These services may include counseling, social-emotional learning, brief student check-ins, crisis response, conflict resolution, care coordination, and other school-based wellness supports.

There is no cost to families. Providing insurance information does not impact copays, deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums, or plan limits. Students will continue to receive the same school-based support services, and students without insurance will still receive the support they need.

By providing this information, families help the district seek reimbursement when available, which helps sustain important student wellness services across SMUSD.
