Plan Ahead: Reminder of Summer Construction Along San Marcos Boulevard

Posted Date: 06/12/26 (10:00 AM)

Dear Knights Families,

As we officially begin summer break, we want to remind you of a helpful traffic update for families, students, and staff who may be traveling near San Marcos High School in the months ahead.

Beginning Monday, June 15, the City of San Marcos will begin traffic flow and safety improvements on San Marcos Boulevard between Knights Realm and Rancho Santa Fe Road.

The project is scheduled during the summer while school is out of session to help minimize traffic impacts for students, families, and staff. However, families may still experience temporary lane closures and traffic delays when traveling through the area.

Construction Schedule
June 15 through August 2026

  • Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What to Expect
During construction, please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and slow down when driving through the construction zone. The City of San Marcos appreciates the community’s patience as they complete these traffic flow and safety enhancements.

Planned Improvements Include:

  • Extended left-turn lanes on westbound San Marcos Boulevard toward Rancho Santa Fe Road.

  • No left turn from eastbound San Marcos Boulevard into the shopping center.

  • Extended median fencing in front of San Marcos High School to help direct pedestrians to cross safely at intersections with designated crosswalks.

For questions about the project, please contact the City of San Marcos at construction@sanmarcosca.gov or call the construction hotline at 760-744-1050, ext. 4040.

Have a wonderful summer!

Thank you,
San Marcos High School
